Vernon, 66, is chairman and owner of two-thirds of Dublin-based Green Property, a group built up by John Corcoran (qv). Last November Vernon, a Bristol-born chartered surveyor with Irish parents, warned that the London market was “tanking by the day”. Two months later Green Property sold a block in London’s St James’s Square for €288m to an Asian investor. Vernon also presided over one of Ireland’s biggest property deals, the €950m sale last year of Blanchardstown Shopping Centre in Dublin. In 2002 Vernon, as the company's chief executive, took Green Property private in a €823m deal. Today the business owns assets in Ireland and the UK, including properties in Brentford and Guildford. Green Property showed €411.52m net assets in 2014-15, down €63.7m on the previous year. He also set up the quoted Green REIT in 2013 and has a stake there worth €14m.
