Donegal-born McNally, 79, a former Autosport journalist, retired in 2011 from the Formula One hospitality business that made his fortune. He started Geneva-based Allsport to handle the trackside advertising at F1 circuits during races and ran the Paddock Club, which caters for VIPs at F1 events. McNally, a former boyfriend of Sarah Ferguson, sold up in 2006 for a reported €372m. He has property in Switzerland and Britain, including Warneford Place, Wiltshire, once home to the James Bond author, Ian Fleming.
